Lezane Speaks

Didi started to call Papa and Mummy last night on 25 Jan 2010, Monday. Hopefully, this is the start of his journey in the vocab world unlike Kyla. Kyla started to call Papa and Mama when she is a year plus but she just stopped there. She only started to converse when she is 2.5yrs old.

Dealing with School

Kyla was thrown into a state of uncertainty starting from the first day of school. She greeted her mornings with wails and tears (till today) when she boarded the school bus. Every morning is a torture for her to go to school. Today, she was feeling the worst. She vomited once in the bus and another time in school.

I had expected (yes i have a set of expectations) that she would not react so adversely to taking the bus and attending a new school, for the fact that she attended a year of playgroup on her own last year and we had been reading and telling her about the funs of taking a school bus. I thought she would settle in quite fast. However, things just gets worse each day. Her sobs became cries and cries escalated to wails and vomit.

Now I start to question myself, maybe I shouldn't have switched schools for her. Maybe I could just teach Mandarin instead. maybe i should drive her to school instead. maybe i am subjecting her to too much changes...many 'maybes'. I thought that sending her to a bilingual school was the choice to make but it seemed that she was just not ready for the change. Her teachers and school bus uncle/aunty told me is a process. She will get used to it and will grow more independent. I should not worry too much.

Crossing my fingers that she will settle in soon.

Kyla's Third

Kyla had turned 3 last weekend on 2 Jan 2010. My girl has grown to be a very talkative "Miss Why, What , How?". Every sentence must start with a why at the start of 3 yrs old. She is very curious and inquisitive that it gets on Weikai's nerves at times (mine too at times but i will try my best to answer her if I can).

This year's celebration is peppered with lots of fun and excitement for her and adults too. She had two celebrations, one each for Tay and Heng family.

Noddy and His Friends

For the Tays, we played two games - "Nosy Nosy" and "Dress Up" (for Noddy and Ms Tassie Bear, with my in-laws leading the male and female team). The Nosy game kept the kids (including my sis-in-law, Huishi) busy with 'picking' up rings to their nosies, while the Dress Up sent an adrenaline rush to everyone as they tried to compete agst time on dolling their models of their very version of Noddy and Tassie Bear.

P.S: Thank you Hushi and Huibin for the deco and food.

Dora and Her Friends

Similarly for the Hengs, we had two games too - "Treasure Hunt" (as Dora is a Hispanic who loves to go on adventure) and "Let's Groove". For the former, the kids were paired with adults in search of their gifts. The adults went crazy compared to the kids who were practically just being 'dragged' along... Kyla led the Hengs troop to a Dance Mania with Mama Mia Music. She started the dance with a shout (rather it was a mouse shout) "Come on everybody, Let's Dance". Think she had a bit of a stage fright.

For her new school, I ordered decorated biscuits from Jovie for her to distribute to her new friends. It was a way to make her feel more welcomed and at ease in her new school.
To cap it all, this year's celebration is the most enjoyable one as we had everyone involved in the party. It was definitely the best!
